HYROX EXPLAINED

HYROX is a global fitness race that pairs 1km runs with 8 functional workout stations, alternating from start to finish.
The 8 stations are:
SkiErg — 1,000m
Sled Push — 50m
Sled Pull — 50m
Burpee Broad Jumps — 80m
Rowing — 1,000m
Farmers Carry — 200m
Sandbag Lunges — 100m
Wall Balls — 100 reps
The weights used in a HYROX race are determined by three factors: your category (Open or Pro), your gender, and your team format (Singles, Doubles, or Relay). Open uses entry-level weights designed for newer racers, while Pro uses heavier loads for experienced athletes.
SKI ERG
1000 meters. Two handles. A rhythm you'll feel from your fingertips to your feet.
The SkiErg mimics the pulling motion of cross-country skiing, and it's where every HYROX race begins. It builds lung capacity, upper-body endurance, and the core strength to tie it all together. Your lats, triceps, and shoulders drive each pull, while your core and legs anchor every stroke — so it's never just an arm workout, it's a full-body rhythm.
At Vamos, we coach the details that make each pull count — hip hinge, pulling arc, breathing rhythm — and we adjust the pace to your level, so whether you're brand new to the machine or chasing a PR, every session moves you forward.
SLED PUSH
50 meters. One sled. Your whole body working together to move it forward.
The Sled Push builds leg drive, endurance, and real full-body strength. Your quads, glutes, and core power every step, while your chest, shoulders, and arms keep the sled moving smoothly forward.
At Vamos, we coach the details that make it click — body angle, stride length, breathing rhythm — and we scale the weight to your level, so whether it's your first push or your fiftieth, you'll be training safely and progressing every session.
SLED PULL
Rope in hand. Sled on the floor.
The Sled Pull uses a rope to drag a weighted sled toward you — a test of both power and technique. It builds back strength, grip, and the full-body coordination that ties your upper and lower body together. Your back and arms do the pulling, your legs and core anchor every movement, and your weight shifts and rope handling turn effort into progress.
At Vamos, we coach the details that make each pull efficient — stance, rope technique, weight transfer, and breathing — and once the form clicks, you'll feel it carry into everything: stronger pushes, better carries, and easier lifts across the board.
